Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks/Powder

About: Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Verum) comes from a plant called 'Cinnamomum Zeylanicum blume' which is indigenous to Sri Lanka. The old botanical synonym for the tree, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, is derived from Sri Lanka's former name, Ceylon. Sri Lanka still produces 80–90% of the world's supply of Cinnamomum verum. Our organic Ceylon Cinnamon sticks (quills) and Ceylon Cinnamon powder are obtained from the inner bark of Ceylon Cinnamon (True Cinnamon) tree. Ceylon Cinnamon is the expensive, rare, safe and recommended variety over all other varieties of Cinnamon including Cassia, Korintje and Saigon. Ceylon Cinnamon sticks are soft, rolled like a cigar with multiple thin strips of cinnamon bark while the much harder cassia has a single scroll-like curl. Ceylon Cinnamon has a tan color compared to the dark red-brown of cassia CinnamonThe Cinnamon sticks should also have minimal foxing, which is a term used to describe reddish-brown warps caused by dampness. The more foxing there is, the lower the quality of the Cinnamon. Each grade of Cinnamon has certain foxing specifications. The Cinnamon sticks we offer are the 'C4 Grade' Ceylon Cinnamon sticks, which is considered one of the best in the market. Our premium quality Ceylon Cinnamon sticks and powder adds just the right amount of texture,  sophistication and depth of flavor to any recipe. A recipe that uses Ceylon Cinnamon never tastes like cinnamon. Its subtle and mild taste with citrus hints makes it the perfect blender which brings together all the other ingredients whether it is spices or herbs to create an incredible taste sensation.
Ceylon Cinnamon Benefits: Apart from its flavor and exotic aroma, Ceylon Cinnamon offers many health benefits. The oils found in Ceylon cinnamon are thought to reduce spasms, reduce gas (flatulence), stimulate the appetite, and fight bacteria and fungi. Ceylon Cinnamon might also decrease blood pressure and blood lipids. Ceylon cinnamon chemicals might work like insulin to lower blood sugar. Ceylon Cinnamon has been shown to reduce some of the bad effects of eating high-fat foods. This may help promote weight loss. Its effect on blood glucose levels can also help in losing weight.

Suggested Use:
  1. Cooking Ceylon Cinnamon when mixed with curries or rice gives a wonderful savoury taste.

  2. Milk - Use Cinnamon powder or sticks to flavour milk. Ceylon Cinnamon mixed in warm milk can be used as a natural pain killer due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

  3. Coffee and Tea - Brew a pot of coffee / tea by adding Cinnamon powder or pieces of Cinnamon sticks along with ground coffee, cocoa or tea to the coffee maker or tea pot.

  4. Cinnamon sugar - Combine 1/2 cup sugar with 2 tablespoons of Ceylon Cinnamon powder to make Cinnamon flavoured sugar, which can be used as a topping for desserts. You can also make Cinnamon sugar by adding 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks to a pound of sugar and storing it for two weeks in a glass jar.

  5. Anti-fungal treatment - Boil a few Ceylon Cinnamon sticks and soak your feet in it to get rid of this pesky Fungal infection. Ceylon Cinnamon is crumbly and easy to break into smaller pieces so you can extract the maximum cinnamon effect. Ceylon Cinnamon can also be ground and used in oral care.

  6. Bake - Try this Cinnamon powder with any baked goods like Cinnamon butter cake, empanadas, roti and you will be mesmerized with the subtle aroma and wonderful taste.

  7. Make stews and soups - When winter comes there is nothing like a stew made with cinnamon powder to warm the whole body. While many people use cinnamon sticks in stews, you can add cinnamon powder to stews, which incidentally gives it more texture as well.

  8. Sprinkle on fruit - Cinnamon works especially well with fruit like Apple, Oranges, Tangerines and Watermelon. Add some flair and subtle flavor to your fruit.

Ceylon Cinnamon is a native plant of Sri Lanka. Ceylon Cinnamon is very different to Cassia Cinnamon and far healthier, primarily because it has low Coumarin levels. Unlike the ubiquitous Cassia Cinnamon, Ceylon Cinnamon does not damage the liver. Ceylon Cinnamon is often called true Cinnamon due to it's sophisticated aroma and ability to impart impeccable taste to many recipes. It requires extremely skilled craftsmanship to extract Ceylon Cinnamon, but the end result is something appreciated for the taste as well as health benefits. Ceylon Cinnamon comes in many forms. Traditional Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks which are also known as Cinnamon quills are grounded to  produce Ceylon Cinnamon Powder or ground Cinnamon. Ceylon Cinnamon capsules when taken as a Herbal supplement provide the benefits of Ceylon Cinnamon powder in a convenient capsule form. The Ceylon Cinnamon sticks which are broken into small pieces called quillings or chips are steam distilled into Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil. It is an anti-bacterial powerhouse and one of the most exotic scents in the World. The leaves of the Ceylon Cinnamon tree are steam distilled into Ceylon Cinnamon Leaf Oil. Our high grown Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Tea made with BOPF Ceylon Black Tea and Ceylon Cinnamon Chips is one of the best herbal tea blends Sri Lanka has to offer. Our certified organic Ceylon Cinnamon is grown and harvested from the organic forest gardens of Sri Lanka.
