About: Bay tree was popular among the Romans, who thought it to be a symbol of wisdom, peace and protection. The leaves of the Bay tree are used in the preparation of crowns from the time immemorial. Bay essential oil is obtained from the oil rich leaf of the Bay tree, after steam distillation.
Uses: Bay Leaf essential oil is known for its antibacterial, antiviral and fungicidal properties. Used in aromatherapy, Bay Leaf oil is believed to be effective in calming the mind. The linalool and cineol found in Bay Leaf have been found to reduce anxiety and stress. Bay Leaf essential oil is often used in massages as a massage oil (diluted in a carrier oil) due to its ability to promote circulation, treat skin and intestinal infections, and help fight fatigue and body aches.
