Kokum (Kokoona zeylanica) Inner Bark Powder

About: Kokoona zeylanica bark which is locally referred to as "Kokum Pothu" or "Kokun Pothu" is endemic to Sri lanka.

Uses: Kokum bark powder can be applied with water or honey to improve skin complexion. It is an effective tool for treating and preventing visible signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, diminished elasticity, and increased fragility. Kokum bark powder is also used for the treatment of pimples, minor inflammatory conditions, dry skin and for the removal of skin marks and scars. Due to its cleansing and exfoliating properties, it is used as a makeshift soap (mixed with water) by the locals. Kokun bark powder is also used as a snuff in the treatment of severe headaches.
