Uses: The nutmeg tree, contains a nut, which is covered by a hard shell. A red-colored webbing/aril (known as the mace) covers the shell. The mace is carefully removed, dried, then processed by steam distillation to obtain Mace essential oil. Mace essential oil is used for the treatment of arthritis and rheumatism. In aromatherapy, it is reputed as an oil that helps bolster restful sleep and promote a comforting effect on the emotions. Its aromatic components help enhance the relaxing experience when used in a massage blend.
