Mahua (Mee) Oil

Mahua oil has emollient properties and is used in treating skin ailments, rheumatism and headaches. It is a laxative which is useful in habitual constipation, piles and haemorrhoids. Mahua oil is used in the treatment of joint and muscle pain. Central Indian tribes use the oil from the seeds as a ghee substitute, thus earning its nickname, "butter tree" Mahua oil is also used as a hair fixer, to make soaps and in the manufacture of natural skincare products and painkillers. Traditionally its used as a cooking oil in many parts of India and Sri Lanka due to its rich nutritional profile.
